Langebio was created in April 2005 as a new Cinvestav Unit located in Irapuato, Guanajuato. Its objectives are to integrate multidisciplinary research groups to carry out high-quality studies, and to perform research leading to the characterization and sustainable use of Mexican biodiversity.
The first research groups of Langebio began their activities in provisional space kindly provided by Cinvestav Unidad Irapuato. In March 2009, the groups were relocated to the new facilities designed by architect Enrique Norten.
As of 2013, Langebio hosts 16 independent research groups working in fields ranging from biochemistry to computational and systems biology, and from biophysics to physiology and developmental biology. Click here to learn more about our research groups.
